From our 2012 Litter

Warwickshire-based breeders of Abyssinian cats.

Richard & Ann Barker live in Atherstone, Warwickshire and have always enjoyed a house full of much-loved cats and dogs. They established their prefix “Coppice” 35 years ago breeding Siamese cats. The enjoyment of taking part in the world of cats further encouraged their interest in breeding and showing dogs and they went on to enjoy considerable success over a period of 25 years with their Lakeland and Airedale Terriers.

Having retired Richard & Ann were able to indulge their long-held ambition to own an Abysinnian cat and bought Agapae Boreas (“Isambard”) as a pet some two years ago. Visiting the Abyssinian Cat Club (ACC) show at Stratford-upon-Avon tempted them to recommence breeding and showing pedigree cats.

Their first litter was born in April 2012 when Agapae Circe (“Florence”) gave birth to six kittens sired by Champion Mikkar Cherokee  (“Cheekie”),  the impressive stud owned by Karen & Dr Mike Shammas of Mikkar Abyssinians.

Richard & Ann are members of the Abyssinian Cat Club, the Abyssinian Cat Association and the Tonkinese Breed Club.

In April 2019, Ann and Richard said a fond farewell to their last litter of Abysinnians, having decided to spend more time enjoying their existing cats, some of which will occasionally be shown.
